Witness history in the making as Bhutan celebrates the coronation of their Fifth King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck. His Majesty will don the Raven Crown and formally assume the embodiment of the Supreme Protector in November 2008 followed by 3 days of celebrations in Thimphu. Proceedings will include the opportunity to offer ‘Tashi Khadar’ (good wishes) to the Druk Gyalpo at Tashichhoedzong, a public speech by his Majesty the King, and a celebratory program featuring diverse entertainment from every corner of the kingdom and the chance to participate in traditional games and competitions. There will also be a special exhibition in Thimphu celebrating 100 years of Monarchy in Bhutan that will feature the more than 100 year old Raven Crown and other royal adornments including exquisite clothing. A very special, limited-time exhibition of rare royal imagery will also be open for visitors at the National Museum in Paro.
