Climate
The climate varies widely depending on the elevation. In the south, it is tropical; at the northern extreme, there is perpetual snow. Very little rain falls in the autumn from October through December making it ideal for trekking.


Festivals

One of the main attractions are its annual religious festivals, known as TSECHUS.
Two of the most popular Tsechus are held in Paro in the spring and Thimphu in the autumn. Festivals are the only periods during a year when tourists are permitted inside the courtyard of the dzongs. Rare masked and sword dances and other rituals are performed in the dzong's courtyard and temples.
